The Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) plans to build a new naval gunnery training centre in East Java, and re-use the main naval gun of its retiring training ship KRI Ki Hajar Dewantara (364).

The new training facility will have a superstructure similar to that of a ship, with Bofors  57mm gun installed in a similar position to a ship’s primary gun turret position.

Meanwhile, the training ship KRI Ki Hajar Dewantara will be retired soon, with the ship currently non-operational. It was built as a corvette by Uljanic Shipyard in Split, Yugoslavia (now part of Croatia), and delivered to the TNI-AL in 1981.

Aside from the Bofors 57mm gun, it was also has two Rheinmetall Mk.20 Rh202 20mm guns, and was also originally armed with two twin MM-38 Exocet anti-ship missile launchers, a launcher for Mistral very short range surface-to-air missile, and two 533mm torpedo launchers for the AEG SUT heavyweight torpedo.

The ship is planned for donation to the City of Surabaya, and might be converted to a floating museum and restaurant.
