Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL confirmed a recently concluded deal with the Indonesian Ministry of Defence ordering the construction and delivery of 4 additional KCR-60 fast attack crafts for the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL).

While PT PAL did not indicate the contract amount, Jane’s confirmed the contract was signed last 28 December 2018 amounting to IDR 2.8 trillion (US$ 195 million).

The Indonesian Navy currently operate three KCR-60M fast attack crafts, collectively called the Sampari-class, with a fourth unit scheduled for delivery soon. The ship has a total length of 60 meters (thus the “60” in the design name), a beam width of 8.1 meters, and has a maximum speed of 28 knots as provided by 2 diesel engines.

Originally designed as missile boats, the first 2 units (KRI Sampari and KRI Tombak) were reconfigured in 2018, by having a NG-18 30mm close-in weapon system (CIWS) instead of the standard C-705 anti-ship missiles. Other weapons include a Bofors 40mm naval gun, and two Denel Vektor 20mm machine gun system.

The ships are also equipped with Chinese-made search and fire control radars as standard.
